CS2 vs CS:GO player count

When Valve replaced CS:GO with Counter-Strike 2 in September 2023, the old appid (730) was kept — so the Steam player count for CS2 today is directly comparable to the historical CS:GO numbers.

CS:GO peaked at around 1.8 million concurrent players just before the transition. CS2 has been holding similar numbers, often surpassing them during weekends and esports events.
